Requirements for Acceptance

Diploma Program Requirement:

High school diploma or equivalency (minimum requirement).

Mature Student Applicant (students who did not graduate from high school).

Students who did not graduate from high school may qualify for admission to our College as a mature student. A Mature Student is an individual who did not graduate from high school, but is 19 years of age or older, and has been out of full time high school studies for at least one year.

Mature students must pass a Mature Applicants test: this test is administered at our College, and tests general reasoning and academic ability. When an applicant passes this test, they will be considered for admission into our Diploma Programs.

English proficiency - for international students.

TOEFL or IELTS may not be required.

If your first language is English, you just need to submit your school marks/transcripts.

If you have completed high school or university level courses in an English-language school, you just need to submit your school marks/transcripts.

If you have completed ESL courses in Canada or the U.S., you just need to submit these marks/transcripts.

If you do not meet of the above criteria, then you need to submit scores for the TOEFL or IELTS. For students requiring additional English language training, TFC offers the ESL for Film Certificate program. This program normally lasts 3 - 6 months just prior to the commencement of the regular program. This is not part of our diploma programs. Additional fees apply.

No previous film or television experience is required and no audition is required.

Scholarships

TFC offers the following scholarships to outstanding students:

The President's Scholarship is awarded once annually to a student studying the Diploma Program. Students who apply for this $5,000 (CDN) scholarship will be evaluated on the academic performance and behavior. This scholarship will be awarded to our student, who has a record of outstanding academic achievement and creativity.

The Director's Scholarship will be awarded to a student once annually, after Term Two. Students, who have a record of outstanding academic achievement and creativity, will be considered as candidates for this scholarship. This scholarship has a value of $2,000.

The International Student Scholarship is valued at $500, this scholarship is awarded to one or more international students annually.

International Students

International Student Visa
All international students coming into Canada to study must obtain a student visa before entering Canada.

Foreign students are charged the SAME TUITION as Canadian students.

US Students
You may apply for a student visa through a Canadian consulate or at your point of entry into Canada.

Other International Students
You must contact the Canadian embassy, consulate or trade office in your home country to apply for a visa. Apply as soon as possible to allow plenty of time for processing.

TFC strongly recommends you live with a Canadian family, which is carefully selected by our home-stay coordinator. Participation in the home-stay program will supplement your English education as you will practice the English you have learned, discover and get familiar the Canadian culture and make friends that will last a lifetime.
